Weimaraner is a breed with origins in Germany. More recently the Weimaraner started to travel and be commercialized in America. In the past, the breed was developed to be a hunting dog. They were owned by the royalty and were used to hunt not only small animals such as rabbits and foxes but also large animals such as boar and deer. They combine the beauty of a distinctive regal appearance with a blue or gray short hair coat with the beast that lives inside their stubborn temperament.

Weimaraners are dogs that require an experienced owner to teach them how to properly behave and how to adapt to life in the city. It is not recommended to have a Weimaraner inside a small apartment, like a downtown condo, as they are a very active and energetic kind of dog. They do demand constant physical activity and they love to go for long walks, runs, hikes in the mountains and any outdoor activity. If you are an active outdoor kind of person who is looking for a companion to join you in your crazy adventures, a Weimaraner might be the perfect combination for you.

While the Summer will the perfect season to take your Weimaraner for some outdoor activities, during the winter it becomes a bit challenging to keep the indoor space of the house or apartment clean, as the Weimaraner would totally follow you on a biking trip around downtown even if it is under pouring rain. So, before allowing the dog to enter the premises, it would be best to train him/her to sit and allow you to clean the paws and nose.

Weimaraners are amazing dogs and with the right owners, they can live a long and happy life sharing memorable moments outside. If you do believe that you have the energy and the patience to train and teach a Weimaraner, you for sure will have a wonderful friend for the rest of your life, as they are extremely loyal and lovely dogs.
